The idea is that you can sort your plans for that week &#8211; perhaps you&#8217;ll reconsider the trip to Cardiff and go to Glenforsa instead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The output is a table <a href=\"https:\/\/flightops.guru\/?page_id=43\">here<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each big block of colour gives the average flight category for that period and region. Trends or mitigating conditions are highlighted,  along with probable cloud base and visibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tom takes into account the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>VFR, IFR, MVFR or LIFR rules.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Icing risk, with the logic including freezing levels, cloud cover, precipitation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Density altitude.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Wind at surface and probable cruise altitudes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Atmospheric stability.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Specific mountain weather logic to identify unstable air masses, orographic lift, inversions, or valley fog.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>NOTAMs filtered appropriately<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Every Sunday night at 1800z, Tom will run a weekly regional forecast.
